Getting To Your Lodge

Whether you’re coming from the city or neighbouring villages or ski resorts, Iiyama Train Station is the main interchange to reach The Kichi Collective lodges. We provide a complimentary pickup service from Iiyama Train Station, between 8am and 5pm daily. To arrange your pickup, email us at hello@kichico.jp at least 2 days before your arrival.

Recommended for visitors arriving from the city. Take the Hokuriku Shinkansen (Hakutaka service) to Iiyama Station — 99 mins from Tokyo, 11 mins from Nagano, 75 mins from Kanazawa. During peak season, (Dec - Feb), we recommend booking Shinkansen tickets one month in advance.

Getting Around

We recommend hiring a car to explore Kijimadaira and the wider Iiyama region — public bus services in rural Nagano are limited, and driving gives you access to the local restaurants, onsen, and nature spots that are the heart of rural Japan.

Driving in rural Japan is straightforward. Google Maps works reliably throughout the area, though it may occasionally route you down narrow rural roads — use with caution. International tourists must carry a valid International Driving Permit (IDP) alongside their home country licence to legally drive in Japan.

The Kichi Collective offers vehicle hire with your stay, subject to availability — enquire at the time of booking. Car rental near Kijimadaira is available at Nissan Rent-a-Car Iiyama (the closest option), or from a wider selection of providers in Nagano City.
