Yes — KIJIMA Base is well suited to families travelling with infants and toddlers. Children under 6 stay free when sharing a bed with adults, and as a whole-house booking the property is entirely private.

Note that all bedrooms are on the 2nd floor, requiring staircase access.

The self-catering kitchen lets you prepare meals on your own schedule, and the quiet, safe village setting of Kijimadaira gives little ones genuine outdoor space to roam right outside your door.

Yes — Kichi Collective can arrange car rental as part of your KIJIMA Cottage booking, with the vehicle delivered directly to the lodge. We offer three vehicle sizes to suit your group:

• Large SUV / MPV (7–8 seats) — e.g. Mitsubishi Delica, Toyota Alphard

• Medium Sedan / Wagon (5 seats) — e.g. Toyota Corolla, Subaru Impreza

• Small Kei / Compact (4–5 seats) — e.g. Honda N-BOX, Toyota Yaris

A note on driving in Japan: Foreign visitors must hold a valid International Driving Permit (IDP) issued under the 1949 Geneva Convention, carried alongside their home country licence and passport. IDPs are not issued in Japan — apply through your national motoring authority before you travel. Travellers from Belgium, France, Germany, Monaco, Switzerland, and Taiwan may use a JAF-certified Japanese translation of their licence instead.

KIJIMA Cottage is a fully equipped, self-catered whole house — the entire property is exclusively yours for your stay. Included as standard:

• Full kitchen with cookware and tableware

• On-site parking

• General housekeeping and linen changes every 4 days

All rates include Japanese consumption tax (10%). Coin laundry facilities are available in Iiyama town, we recommend the one at Cainz Iiyama.

KIJIMA Cottage is priced per night for the whole house, with rates that vary by season.

The base nightly rate covers up to 4 guests, with a nightly supplement per additional guest, up to 6 occupants total. Stays of 7 nights or more receive a 10% discount on the total accommodation cost. Check-in at KIJIMA Cottage is from 3pm; check-out is by 11am. Guests arriving between 9am and 5pm will be met by the house manager, who will walk you through the property and answer any questions. Guests arriving outside of those hours will be given a self-check-in procedure in advance, and the house manager will meet you the following morning.

Full arrival instructions, access details, and house guidance are sent to all guests after booking is confirmed.

As a private whole-house lodge, you have the property entirely to yourselves. We ask all guests to respect the quiet, rural character of Kijimadaira: please keep noise at a considerate level (particularly in the evenings), follow Japan's waste-sorting and recycling rules — which we explain clearly in your pre-arrival notes — and treat the lodge and surrounding environment with care.
